Can't Volunteer?
We understand that not everyone has the time or the means to become a rescue volunteer...but many of you would still like to help. There are lots of things you can do to help us without becoming an "official" volunteer. Two constant needs of our rescue are money and help with raising awareness. Here are a few ideas:

Donate: You can send donations by mail or through Paypal. Any amount, large or small, helps us help dogs.
We have great ideas for getting your friends/family or community in the act to fundraise on our DONATE page!

Shop: Who doesn't like to shop? If you shop online, get registered with igive...it's free, it's easy, and there are hundreds of popular and specialty stores in the program. A designated portion of your purchase goes to NBSTR when you make us your charity! The best part: there is NO extra cost to you! Click the icon below to sign up with igive.

Search the Internet using GoodSearch: another easy, fast way to earn for NBSTR. Every time you search through GoodSearch, NBSTR receives a donation. Click the icon below to sign up with GoodSearch

Spread the Word: So many people don't know about rescue. They don't know about puppy mills, and they don't know that help for homeless dogs is within themselves. Please help us spread the word. Print one of our NEWSLETTERS and give them out or give to friends and family; use our URL (www.nbstr.org) in your email signature; list our webpage on your blog or Facebook or My Space page.

Know of someone considering getting a puppy? Send them our way! Refer them to our website, or look at our ONLINE CALENDAR to see where we'll be making volunteer appearances, and invite them to show up to meet us!

Huge things are accomplished by a series of small gestures...never think that something is too insignificant to help us.

Are you already helping NBSTR? Have you found a way to spread the word or raise funds for our dogs? Tell us about it! We'll feature your ideas and efforts on our website!! And thank you!!

Have a vehicle?
We are a multi-state rescue. We also take in dogs needing rescue from states outside our rescue area. Transportation is a HUGE need within our rescue. We use a volunteer relay system to get our dogs where they need to go. Our transport "legs" can be any distance from just a few miles to a few hundred miles, depending upon need and driver willingness/availability. Our transporters often have some very. . . er. . .interesting stories to tell...Read some on our Volunteers Page

Like the thought of fostering?
The continually increasing number of dogs needing rescue means we desperately need more foster homes. Do you have space in your home and heart to care for one of our dogs until it can be placed in a loving forever home? New Beginnings Shih Tzu and Friends Rescue pays the vet bills; you provide the love.

Love people as well as dogs?
NBSTR has tons of opportunities for its volunteers to get out there and meet people to raise awareness, funds, and facilitate adoptions.
 - Petco (and similiar rescue-friendly organizations) rescue/adoption events
 - Regional Pet Expos
 - Appearances/presentations at organizational meetings, bazaars, public or private events, local schools, nursing homes...you name it!
 - We also need volunteers to help us screen adoption applications by phoning references and visiting our applicants in person for a home visit.

Crafty/Creative?
Our rescue can always use talent! We can always use people who can create items to sell at events or raffles. We also are always in need of new print and online materials for outreach, including brochures, programs, appeals, and website additions. There's really no limit other than imagination!

Organized?
Then use your talents to help us! We need people who can maintain databases, track trends, statistics, etc, plan fundraisers and other events, and assist others who already do some of these things.

If you love dogs and care about their welfare, one of the most rewarding ways to express that love and concern is by becoming a rescue volunteer. Without human intervention, thousands more dogs would remain homeless, would suffer, would die.

New Beginnings Shih Tzu and Friends Rescue needs you!  The more volunteers we have, the more area we can cover, the more dogs we can rescue and the more resources we will have with which to rescue them! There are many different ways to volunteer; this page is designed to inspire you to begin finding your niche! All you need is room in your heart...
